Oncorhynchus aguabonita

The California golden trout is world-renowned for its brilliant colors. Golden trout are native to remote, high-altitude streams and lakes in the headwaters of the Kern River in the southern Sierra Nevada. I caught this one in a Kern River tributary on a beadhead nymph. To learn more, visit the excellent Ralph Cutter Golden Trout site or the California Sierra Golden Trout site.
