Red salmon spawn in huge numbers in rivers and streams that have connected lakes in their watersheds. On the Russian River in Alaska, a hundred anglers will stand and fish side-by-side for reds, a scenario affectionately known as "combat fishing." This is a red that I landed and released in Quartz Creek while fishing for dollies.
